My permaculture internship at Ferme des Ruats was a true experience for all the senses.
Sight: The garden and grounds... looked like they came straight out of a living painting—even in October, the vegetable garden was still bursting with structure, color, and life. And what a fascinating world beneath the earth! We stayed in Le Nid, a charming cottage with a large panoramic window offering a soothing view of the cows. The interior, decorated with exquisite taste, could undoubtedly be featured in a home decor magazine.
Hearing: What a joy to hear the silence! Coming from bustling Belgium, it's a real breath of fresh air to be able to stay there for a few days.
Smell: The aromatic herbs in the garden, the fresh air, and the little challenge of guessing the ingredients in our meals each day were a real pleasure.
Taste: We were pampered all day with original and delicious dishes, straight from the garden. Every bite exuded freshness, care, and love. When will your cookbook be out, Annette? 😉
Touch/feel: From the very first moment, I felt welcomed. The group was warm, open, and united by the same desire to learn and grow. Virginie is an exceptional instructor, attentive, passionate, and full of knowledge. A wonderful personality, gentle and caring, who guided us patiently despite our chatter and opened the doors to the world of permaculture.
La Ferme des Ruats is much more than a place—it's an experience that touches, nourishes, and inspires. A little corner of paradise where nature and humanity meet in perfect harmony. 🌿

Nous avons eu la chance de séjourner dans une ferme magnifiquement reconvertie en un lieu d'accueil plein de charme.... Ce havre de paix propose une variété d'hébergements champêtres. Nous avons séjourné dans la tente du verger. L'extérieur est bucolique à souhait avec un jardin potager, des vergers et un pré accueillant les ânes Vanille et Valentine.
Les repas végétariens sont un vrai régal : variés, savoureux et riches en découvertes culinaires, avec en prime des légumes frais du potager.
Nous recommandons vivement cet endroit à tous ceux qui recherchent une expérience unique, mêlant confort, nature et dépaysement.mehr

Following a death in the family, we wanted to postpone our visit to the farm for an introduction to permaculture. We... were told that a death was “not a case of force majeure”. We would have liked to postpone it even if it meant paying a little extra, but the team showed very little consideration and tact. They collected our deposit and did not respond to our last request to postpone. We are very disappointed, especially from a permaculture farm.mehr

A little pang in the heart even if we will return to this green setting. Spring here is wild and lush, inhabited by its... fairy Annette, a generous magician with delicious treats straight from her permaculture vegetable garden.
Its casket rustles happily. The spacious decor of the Morvan is within reach.
The unchanging countryside like in school books: chickens, donkeys, horses, cows and their calves.
What if next time, in the warmth of Tiny's comfortable seed hut on wheels, "the barn", from its cozy bed with its bay window overlooking this space, we went there to dream of a snowy cotton day?mehr

We only spent 3 days there, but that was enough for the pleasant and relaxing places to charm us. Indeed, by talking... with the very friendly owner of the place about her work and the facilities, it confirms that a different way of life is possible, and even essential for the future (we were in the middle of a heat wave and critical drought during our stay , it makes you think). Impressive work that can change minds, and other projects still in progress.

We stayed for 3 nights in the Tiny House with our 3 year old son and had a great stay. The food is excellent, fresh,... local, homemade (even the bread). The tiny house is very well equipped, impeccable cleanliness and the ecological approach thought out at all levels. Very warm welcome from Annette who really appreciates the region.mehr

A magnificent, comfortable and warm gîte, sheltered from untouched, calm and rejuvenating nature. Very good contact... with the owner, her meals are surprising and very good. Un weekend hors du temps à la ferme des Ruats. De la table d’hôte à la rénovation de la ferme : une simplicité... délicieuse sans aucune faute de goût. Un endroit confortable qui sait rester authentique. Le tout dans un cadre de verdure extraordinaire à proximité de sites remarquables pour les amoureux des vieilles pierres et du patrimoine. Everything is done just right at this renovated farmhouse in a remote part of the Burgundy countryside. The bedrooms... are gorgeous - and spacious - and the meals (dinner at 25 euros per person including wine) and breakfast are organic, using locally-sourced food and wine. Add in the peace and quiet - and excellent dog walks - of the area and you have an ideal spot for an overnight stay close to the motorway, or a longer break exploring the countryside and villages nearby. Highly recommended!mehr

Stayed here for four nights in August. Beautiful peaceful location . Excellent accommodation and very friendly and... helpful hosts. Really enjoyed the breakfast with homemade bread, jam, yogurt and brioche. Annette and Fabian were so charming and helpful. The farmhouse has been renovated in a simple but excellent style. Lovely walks in the countryside. Even the dog was delightful and the donkeys were friendly. Highly recommend Hope to return!mehr
